We are celebrating the anniversary of the declaration to England and the World that we now considered ourselves an independent self ruling nation.

Our nation began its life as a “government instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.’ It was designed that “We the people “created a government that would obey laws empowered by “We the people “. The “folks” would be the sovereigns in a nation that would work in our best interest.

It was definitely not the intention to create a nation ruled by professional politicos whose primary interests are self-promotion and personal benefit.

In the federal government one size and style for all, subsidies, programs, and entitlements are created in Washington and enforced on everyone in the country, uniformly, whether they are needed or work or not.

The lobbyists, politicos, program vendors, etc. are the real beneficiaries and rarely are the intended beneficiaries uniformly satisfied.

The Nation that was conceived in the Declaration of Independence was defined after an experiment as a confederation by The Constitution which specifically limited the powers of our representatives in the Congress to reserve power to the individual – the community – then the states.

Today, we live in a politically correct world where federal authority pervades our lives through a system of extortion of resources called taxes and the reassignment of those resources to affect control over “We the people”.

Consider the education of our children. “We the people” pay taxes and then the federal government dispenses “assistance” to states and local educational systems that “follow the rules and teach what the government wants taught, and how the government wants it taught, using materials approved by the authorities.

One need only scan the Dept. of Education mandates and documented “guidance” to get a sense of the extent of the loss of freedoms we have traded for the “assistance”.
Clearly, some social benefits such as security like that provided by the police and military are needed to maintain order, and arguments can be made that some public assistance may be justified for those obviously unable to care for themselves.

Our way of life has become threatened by a greatly expanded concept of socialism and the entitlements that are making us slaves to the government largesse.

These dangers to our representative system of government and freedoms afforded by our capitalistic economy have poked their heads up in recent speeches in this political season.

In my last column I referred to comments made by Candidate Obama’s minister Rev. Wright. I don’t attribute any comments as directly related to Mr. Obama’s core values but relay them as a set of concepts that indeed represent the understanding of a large proportion of the population that see themselves as victims of society and not necessarily only racial in nature.

The values and social attitudes (a “Value System” that  refers to “our racist competitive society” and includes the disavowal of the pursuit of “middle-classness” and a pledge of allegiance to “all black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System.” It defines “middle-classness” as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.”)

of his church, its pastor and community that he was a part of for over 20 years.

Many of the basic tenets indicated here provide the foundations of a Marxist Classless society where resources are supplied according to ability and dispensed according to need by the government.

The coming election appears that it will be a referendum on the amount of socialism and government control that we can tolerate.

I don’t see many candidates that would demand that the federal government act within the bounds of the authority granted to it by the individual states. Who will stand up for what is right and lead our people back to our roots of liberty?

It seems if one remains politically correct it only invites further transgressions against our liberty.
Several days ago Natalia Garcia wrote a letter to the editor referring to the Democratic Party primary election system where “Super Delegates” crowned that party’s nomination for President with little consideration of the votes at the primary election. How much more imperial can we get!

It is high time that we as a people reject the politics of derision and embrace the mutual goal of returning our nation to its roots of individual liberty and personal responsibility. On this anniversary of the founding of our Nation, I ask you to join me in this . Get involved and make a difference. Challenge those who would rule over us as opposed to representing the interests of the people. Begin by helping clean your own house (locally) and rejecting those moneyed politicians who place the profits of their special interest benefactors above the rights of the people. Look beyond parties and follow the money. Become an informed citizen, for only an informed electorate can be the guardian of liberty.
