With regard tp Ms Ramirez comment "Drew stated, “We must obviously be too stupid or just not care.”
If we didn't vote for change in the past we must fit that criteria. I know for many years until I became involved in politics, my day to day issues seemed to take priority so I just didn't care, then. Now I do!
As to writing nicethings about President - I have pointed out some in earlier columns. He has beliefs and goals and is actually working towards achieving them. Many of us dn't even go to the polls.... Check the recent election!
I didn't receive a tax cut - I don't have enough income for it to register. I do realize however more people are still losing jobs every day.
Lastly, having been in the maritim industry I understand "offshore tax havens" and for most purposes they are very much alive and well.
We must realize that not everything a politicion says is true...

YOUR VOICES
From the Brownsville Herald of 2/7/2010

Column was wrong to criticize Obama
Editor:
This is in reference to Fred Drew’s column, “Get involved in elections,” of Feb. 1.
In the first place the county voters in these elections must get involved to clear the problems and to pay homage to the men and women who have given their lives for the freedom of our country. They haven’t died in vain.
It’s indeed stupid that the voters in the state of Massachusetts just elected Sen. Brown. Drew stated, “We must obviously be too stupid or just not care.” It appears that by voting for this senator, the voters of Massachusetts are running scared and stupid.
President Obama’s State of the Union speech was a job well done. I grade our president with an A+. Drew was wrong to say it was a campaign stump. Our president very clearly took steps to identify who is not fixing it.
Moreover, Drew failed to mention that our Congress passed a tax cut for 97 percent of working families. He extended unemployment benefits and made it easier for struggling families to remain in their homes. He’s gone after credit card companies controlled by banks that have gouged Americans with outrageous fees. He cracked down on offshore tax havens. He made it easier for women to command equal pay. He appointed the first Latina to the Supreme Court. He’s restoring the image of America around the world and yes, he rescued the nation from a deep depression, etc.
Drew didn’t say anything nice about President Obama and the Democrats.
