The first round of the Socialism of our health care law passed Congress with only the support of the Democrat Party and massive public opposition. I say socialism because that is what a Democrat House leader called it.
“This is the first movement for socialism” said Democrat Charles B. Rangel on Fox News just after the Health Care bill passed Congress. He went on to say more is coming – that is what President Obama was elected on.
I am not anxious to find out what comes next!
I found it interesting that the stock of health insurers and pharmaceutical companies went up. Could it be they benefitted?
I also noted a number of catholic religious organizations supporting it which saddens me that they would advocate that the government confiscate money by force and give it to others. What ever happened to community charity where the Catholics directly provide more help to the needy than any one else on earth other than the U S government. The government takes the money by force so it is not charity. The charities do a much more efficient job than the government and the folks even feel good when helping certainly better than when watching the money being taken from my federal retirement check and the money I must give back from my reduced Social Security check – all public employees (teachers too) not subject to social security withholding during the public employment face a vastly reduced retirement even though they had more than enough qualified employment in part time work or other jobs. I receive $159 per month less payments for Medicare. I must still keep my federal health program at a cost of more than $4000 per year, in order to receive adequate attention for afflictions that even the VA will not consider because I served in Combat in the Navy.
Apparently I am not alone; Aroldo Cadriel of Brownsville wrote to the Herald on 3/11/10 about a request for a $5 contribution.
“The economy is shot, several stores are going out of business, unemployment is in the double digits and due to inflation there will be no raise for Social Security recipients or for no one due to the cost of living figure being negative.
The present condition of my bank balance makes it almost impossible to give money to anyone. My shattered condition is due to federal laws, state laws, county laws, corporation laws, liquor laws, cigarette laws, mother-in-laws, father-inlaws, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and outlaws.
Through these laws I am compelled to pay a business tax, income tax, liquor tax, amusement tax, furniture tax, school tax, gas tax, water tax, phone tax, sales tax, food tax, excise tax, auto tax, and bridge tax. I am required to get a car license, an inspection car license, fishing license, hunting license, dog license, marriage license, notary license, insurance license and driver license. Plus I need to pay navigation tax, school tax, city tax, county tax and federal tax.
For my safety, I am required to carry health insurance, life insurance, liability insurance, burglary insurance, accident insurance, unemployment insurance, tornado and earthquake insurance and old age insurance in case I croak without notice.
If anyone has a business is so governed that it is no easy matter to find out who owns it. They get inspected, suspected, expected, examined and re-examined, informed, required, fined, commanded and compelled until they provide an inexhaustible supply of money for every known fee, desire or hope of the human race. Oh, and a bridge tax to cross to Matamoros and a fee to cross back to the U.S.A.
Simply because there is no money left to give or donate to something or other, I am told that I am getting removed from their mailing list. All of this giving or donating almost leaves me in ruins.”
He said it far better than I could.
Somehow, it seems wrong that, as poor as our economy is, the government chooses as its priority to tax us even more as its first big action rather than reduce taxes on those entities that can create jobs rather than support insurance companies and service unions. Even at the risk of extended legal battles on the premise that the Federal government was not authorized by the constitution to force people to buy insurance or pay a fine.
There are other risks as well when Texas one of the states with the best economy and lowest taxes contemplates legal action to prevent financial doom or worse; an article “Secede from the USA” appeared in the Herald internet blog on March 24, It said Rick Perry should sign the documents to secede from the, union – 49 broke states, that can’t afford any-thing. Only the sovereign state of Texas will survive the economic crisis that Obama and Congress have just passed. “Secede from the USA” needs to be the new chant in Texas! I’m already forced to pay taxes for the uninsured. Why work and save if all your savings will go to medical bills? I pay taxes (mandated) for education, disabilities, food stamps, etc. One tenth of the working population should not have to pay higher premiums or be burdened by huge costs (which is the main problem) while those who sit back get everything free.
One last thought as to where this might lead. On Newsmax there was an article that also appeared on the electronic media as well. NY State is trying to outlaw salt from food in restaurants, based on the idea that if the state must pay for your health they can regulate what you eat.
I remember reading about “Salt Wars” in the past and a saying of “Not worth your salt”
I am still looking for real freedoms that are unabridged by the govetnment and will promise to report on those I find. I would appreciate any suggestions you want to send to me at email info@todayscommonsense.com
